Can I extract the water myself with a wet/dry vacuum first?
For a small, clean-water spill, a wet/dry vacuum can help in the first few minutes while you wait. For anything beyond a small spill, or any water that may be contaminated, it's worth having a provider assess the situation — a shop vacuum won't reach water that has migrated under flooring or into wall cavities.
